By becoming an e-member, it will be evident that you understand the value of maximizing the profitability of your customers and/or members through your affiliation with our organizations. Our commitment to you is to work diligently on behalf of your grain sorghum producers in Washington, D.C. You can expect for us to make a positive economic impact for your producers by continuing to work with vision and purpose.
Why is there a need for sorghum associations?
Six of the major sorghum-growing states have established checkoff programs for grain sorghum. If you are in one of these states, you send in assessments to fund research, market development and other projects designed to increase the profitability of sorghum production. However, these funds cannot be used for legislative activities that also impact sorghum profitability. By becoming an e-member of NSP, you will also become a member of your state association. National and state staff will work on your behalf in the legislative arena.
NSP, in committment to e-members, will continue to:
- Work to get higher prices for sorghum to make growing sorghum more profitable
- Work diligently to bring ethanol plants to the Sorghum Belt, which in turn will increase volume and prices for sorghum
- Pursue foreign markets
- Work aggressively to bring new insurance products to producers and equalize CRC and MPCI insurance
- Stay at the forefront of all discussion involving re-opening the current Farm Bill
We invite you to join us and take advantage of this valuable producer program. Please call us toll free at (800) 658-9808. We look forwarding to hearing from you and partnering with you to ensure sorghum's profitability.
